WATER CRISIS: Support the cause on Friday, May 18, 2012

The entire school community is being asked to wear BLUE (representing clean and safe water) for a dollar ($1.00) on May 18, 2012 in support of our Water for Africa project focusing on the severe water crisis facomg millions of people.

Honorable Judge Whitten launches Law Day at I.S. 143M!
The Honorable Judge Whitten, who graduated from our school in 1970, will make his way to Intermediate School 143M on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 to celebrate LAW DAY with our 6th graders. Students will get a glimpse of how a courtroom functions and meet the people responsible for the judicial process.

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 is a federal law to improve education for all children. It holds schools responsible for results, gives parents greater choices, and promotes teaching methods that have been proven to be effective. The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) is committed to helping all schools reach high standards for student achievement and giving every child in every school a quality education. We are making progress, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done for all our children.
